The Arvo Pärt Centre invites musicians from the Nordic countries, as well as Latvia and Lithuania, to apply for a paid residency at the Arvo Pärt Centre.
The application period begins on 4 July and closes on 31 August. The residency is open to creative professionals (or duos) working in music – including performers, composers and sound artists – from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Latvia and Lithuania.
The Arvo Pärt Centre provides four musicians with the opportunity to immerse themselves in an inspiring environment and create work specifically exploring the local cultural landscape and traditions. Projects may address ecological, historical or cultural themes.
The duration of the creative residency at the Arvo Pärt Centre is two months and takes place between November 2024 and May 2025. Residents will receive a daily allowance, travel and accommodation expenses will be covered. A small budget for production costs, such as sound engineer fees or recording equipment rental, is also provided. The residents may use the Centre’s concert hall and studio for recording at no extra cost.
During their stay, residents can attend all concerts and other events at the Centre for free. Furthermore, the residency includes networking opportunities with other creators and residents, both at the Arvo Pärt Centre and throughout Estonia.

Background
Since opening in 2021, the Arvo Pärt Centre’s residency programme has provided a tranquil and inspiring environment for creative professionals, fostering creativity and innovation. This serene setting extends from within the Centre itself to the surrounding forests and seaside. Each year, the Centre awards two creative scholarships – one for a representative from the music sector and another for a creative individual from another art field – accompanied by the opportunity to reside at the Centre. Furthermore, applications for the Centre’s self-funded residency are accepted throughout the year. The residency for Nordic artists is funded by the Nordic Culture Point and is intended for performers and composers from the Nordic and Baltic regions, excluding Estonia.
