Arvo Pärt’s “Adam’s Lament”, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste, has won a Grammy for the Best Choral Performance

Winners in the 56th Grammy Awards were announced tonight at Los Angeles Staples Centre.
Arvo Pärt’s “Adam’s Lament”, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste, won the Grammy in the Best Choral Performance category. The disc was performed by Tui Hirv and Rainer Vilu with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Sinfonietta Riga, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Latvian Radio Choir and Vox Clamantis. The recording was released under the ECM New Series and contains “Adam’s Lament” as well as “Beatus Petronius”, “Alleluia-Tropus” and “L’Abbé Agathon” among others.
The disc contains the Latvian Radio Choir, Sinfonietta Riga, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Vox Clamantis performing
In addition to the recording of “Adam’s Lament”, Tõnu Kaljuste was also nominated for the Best Opera Recording with Stale Kleiberg’s opera “David & Bathsheba”, whilst conductor Neeme Järvi received a nomination in Best Choral Performance.
In 2007, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir with Paul Hillier as conductor won a Grammy for the Best Choral Performance with Pärt’s CD “Da Pacem” under the Harmonia Mundi label.
