Description
The students of the Lääne-Harju School of Music and Arts and the flagship of Estonian gypsy-jazz, the band Titoks, will perform at the concert dedicated to the International Music Day.
Virtuoso, bright, attention-grabbing and insanely technical, but at the same time mild, Titoks’ music has enthralled listeners all over the world.
The collective’s music takes the listener on a journey in a time machine, where forgotten nostalgic melodies, swing rhythms bursting with energy and the gloomy atmosphere of smoky lounge music are discovered.
The quartet has based its music on the gypsy-jazz style, which is characterized by the strong rhythmic accompaniment of the guitar “la pompe”. Thanks to this technique, it is possible to perform the function of a drum and an accompanying instrument simultaneously with the guitar.
What makes the style rare is that only string instruments are used – violin, guitar and double bass.On Music Day, October 1, those interested have a rare opportunity to listen to Titoks’ virtuosos alternately and alongside the brilliant instrument students of the Lääne-Harju Music and Arts School!
NB! On International Music Day, October 1, visiting the Arvo Pärt Center is free! (The center is exceptionally open from 12 o’clock).
