Description
On May 28, the series of creative meetings called Järvi Sessions will continue at the Arvo Pärt Centre with a discussion on the ways education and creativity are connected. Conductor Kristjan Järvi will be joined by film music editor and Chairman of the Council of the Arvo Pärt Centre Michael Pärt and German film director Tom Tykwer (via video call). The conversation will revolve around the creative process – how to find and hold on to your personality while obtaining standardised education and being influenced by the ever-changing trends of the time. What have the panellists themselves learned from their own work? What can be taken from the tribal way of life of the indigenous peoples?
Kristjan Järvi: “The most important thing is to find your own voice and to trust your inner feeling, to stay true to it”.
Michael Pärt: “Every human is born with an open creative mindset, and yet, we all learn our craft and emerge through the system as highly qualified creatives. Yes, we might have ‘mastered’ our trade, but often at the expense of a deeper intuition, which is as fragile as the our soul itself”
NB! The talk is in English, live-stream at stream.arvopart.ee (5 EUR).
The Järvi Sessions, a collaboration between conductors Neeme and Kristjan Järvi, the Arvo Pärt Centre and Viimsi Artium, combine masterclasses on conducting and leadership, concerts and inspiring conversations with musicians, composers, filmmakers, architects, scientists and entrepreneurs.
Professional musicians and conductors from Estonia and abroad, as well as music students, are welcome to attend the masterclasses. People from other walks of life – culture, IT, business and other sectors – are also invited to participate as guest listeners. The talks and concerts are open to everybody.
