Description
Cellist Marcel Johannes Kits took part in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels from May 9 to June 4 and won the Third Prize of the 2022 Competition. Since its foundation, the Queen Elisabeth Competition has been considered one of the most challenging and prestigious competitions for instrumentalists. In 1957 the Queen Elisabeth Competition was one of the founding members of the World Federation of International Music Competitions. In 2022 the Queen Elisabeth Competition was dedicated to the cello for the second time.
The content of the concert is summarized by Kits as follows: “I will perform with pianist Sten Heinoja, one of my most important performance partners. I have selected music from the competition program (Schumann and Poulenc) as well as works that are very important to me personally (Bach, Piazzolla, Tüür). The whole idea of the concert for me is to thank the people who supported me on my journey to the Queen Elisabeth’s competition and to sum up the whole “Marcel’s Deployment” project with it. ”
The program includes Tüür, Piazzolla, Bach, Schumann, Poulenc.
