3rd Arvo Pärt Centre Film Evenings
Arvo Pärt centre film evenings were again held at Katariina kirik (St. Catherine’s Church, 12 Vene Street) on 27 – 29 August 2013. This was the third year that films featuring the music of Arvo Pärt were screened on warm August evenings.
This year the focus was on documentary films.

As on previous occasions each of the films was presented with an introduction, and this year the Centre was glad to host guests directly connected with the films. Bulgarian Director, Youlian Tabakov, introduced his film “Tzvetanka”, and Jaan-Eik Tulve, the conductor of Vox Clamantis, introduced the film about Manfred Eicher, founder and producer of the ECM music label, “Sounds and Silence”. Michael Madsens environmental documentary was introduced by an Estonian biologist, nature writer and photographer Fred Jüssi. The artistic director for the film evenings is Kaarel Kuurmaa.
The films were shown with Estonian subtitles, “Sounds and Silence” and “Into Eternity” in English, “Tzvetanka” in Bulgarian language.
