Composer Arvo Pärt and the Arvo Pärt Centre cordially congratulate Tallinn Chamber Orchestra on their 25th anniversary!
For a quarter of a century, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra (TCO) has been one of the flagships of Estonian musical life, offering many unique musical experiences to both domestic and foreign audiences.
Since its establishment, TCO has also been one of the leading performers and recorders of Arvo Pärt’s music. One of their first major tasks in 1993, when Tõnu Kaljuste formed the orchestra, was recording Pärt’s Te Deum (ECM) with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.
TCO has performed numerous works by Pärt at the annual Arvo Pärt Days, established in 2010. At the initiative of Tõnu Kaljuste, the orchestra has also performed concerts of Pärt’s music in several prestigious concert halls in Europe, but also in New York’s Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Centre, as well as in Japan, Mexico and at large music festivals.
TCO has also provided valuable recordings for ECM Records: Te Deum was followed by Litany (1996), In Principio (2009) and Adam’s Lament (2012), which received a Grammy Award.
The year 2018 has started actively: In January, performances were given with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir in Holland, England, Ireland and Belgium. The orchestra was one of the main performers at the Arvo Pärt Festival in Brussels.
We wish Tallinn Chamber Orchestra lots of musical success for many decades to come!
