On 14 September in Novosibirsk (Russia), the world premiere of a new arrangement of Arvo Pärt’s La Sindone for violin and orchestra will be performed by the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra and the solo violinist Vadim Repin. Arvo Pärt has dedicated this composition to violinist Vadim Repin and Pärt’s life-long friend Andres Mustonen. Arvo Pärt has said the following about the new version of this composition, “Thanks to the collaboration with Vadim Repin and Andres Mustonen, I had a completely new vision for this work, which I then tried to make happen.”
The Estonian premiere of this work will take place on 25 September in Tallinn at Estonia Concert Hall, performed by Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and Vadim Repin (violin), conducted by Andres Mustonen.
On 23 September, this composition will also be performed in Zürich at the season opening concert of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich with solo violinist Andreas Janke, conducted by Paavo Järvi.
